Scanning Services

Need your own art scanned?

I offer fine art scanning services in the Greater Seattle Area to help small artists get high-resolution images of their own art for print.

Pricing

Art scanning pricing is per page and includes basic color correction. If more complex color correction is needed, an additional fee with be applied per page.

  • Base price: $25 per page scanned (includes basic color correction)
  • Additional fees: $5 per page of complex color correction

If you have a lot of pages to scan or would like to do 100% of the color correction yourself, let me know so that we can work out a reduced price.

The process

Because shipping artwork back and forth would be really expensive, the art scanning service is only available in-person. I don't have a storefront, so here's the process for this service:

  1. You submit a request for fine art scanning through the Contact page.
  2. I email you to schedule a day and time window to meet in Kenmore for dropping off your artwork.
  3. We meet during the chosen time window to drop off your artwork. I will bring extra protective archive sleeves for your art if you don't have your own.
  4. I scan and edit your artwork, providing color correction for each page to match in-person colors of your artwork.
  5. I email you to schedule a day and time window to meet in Kenmore for picking up your artwork.
  6. The email will include a link to a Google Drive folder with the final files of your art scans. Please be sure to back up the files you receive of your artwork, as I will be deleting the files from the Google Drive and from my device once you have confirmed that you have downloaded them all successfully.
  7. The email will also include a link to pay for the scanning services and an invoice with the breakdown of total cost of services.
  8. We meet during the chosen time window to drop off your artwork. I will bring your artwork in protective sleeves to return to you.

Technical notes

  • Artworks are scanned using sRGB color target settings and 300 dpi or 600 dpi resolution, depending on size and complexity of the artwork. This high resolution results in large images files.
  • Basic color correction is included with each scan to ensure the image is as accurate to its in-person appearance as possible. Complex color correction for colors and materials that appear drastically differently when scanned or photographed (like neon, fluorescent, metallic, or reflective) requires an additional fee per page.
  • Scanning is done in-studio with an Epson ET-8550 scanner, which supports a scan resolution of up to 1200 x 4800 dpi/ppp and a print resolution of up to 5760 x 1440 dpi/ppp. Color correction is done in-studio using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Files will be delivered as JPG, PNG, or TIFF, depending on your preference.
